New Rescue Location - Give Me A Chance is now located at Rockin D Ranch on Fite Road in Manchester, Arkansas, about ten miles east of Arkadelphia (south of Hot Springs). First-time visitors can call or email Tom Cates for directions. All visits are by appointment only.

WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF HAY. - If anyone has hay to donate, we can pick it up if you can load the trailer for us or give us a hand, as we are usually very short of helpers. Or we can use cash donations to purchase hay.

Clarksville Horse Seizure, March 14, 2009 - Pictured at left and below are some of the 16 horses that Give Me A Chance picked up after the horses were seized from their owner by the Clarksville sheriff's department. Five horses at the farm were dead.
One of the rescued mares has an overgrown foot that needs special farrier care. You can see her on our Special Needs page.
Among the starving horses was a foal that was approximately two days old. We named her Little Star. None of the horse mares had milk, so we don't know which one was the mother. A pony mare we call Twinkle allowed the foal to suckle, although she was obviously not the mother and had no milk. LaRae bottle-fed Little Star every two hours until the foal died on March 19.
By late August 2009, almost all of the horses were placed in new homes. Thank you to everyone who opened your hearts to these horses.

Adoption Assistance service - At Give Me A Chance, we realize that many more horses need new homes than we can afford to bring to our ranch. In order to find homes for as many horses as possible, we are now allowing people who are seeking new homes for their horses to put those horses on our website. We also provide a screening service if needed and may do farm checks prior to the adoptions. In exchange for our services, we require a minimum of a $50 donation, with travel expenses added if we do a farm check. The donation fee can be paid by either the person adopting the horse or by the person who is transferring ownership. Details can be worked out on an individual basis.
Special Adoption program - In addition to our Regular Adoptions, we have set up a new program that will allow people to "adopt" a horse by paying a $25 adoption fee and contributing a minimum of $25 toward its care each month. The horse will remain at Give Me A Chance Equine Rescue. The equines on this list are chosen from those that have been at GMACER for over a year or are on our Permanent Resident List or are horses that we think are unlikely to be adopted on the Regular Adoption program. Each Special Adoption horse will have only one adopting family, although people may pool their money to adopt a horse. See the "Adopt & Sponsor" page for more information.

FUND-RAISERS
Aluminum Cans - We are collecting aluminum cans for recycling to help pay our feed bill. If you cannot bring the cans to the ranch or to our storage room at Security Warehouse in Arkadelphia, give us a call and we will arrange to pick them up. Maybe the teachers can get the kids to bring cans from home!
Yard Sale - We are collecting goods for a yard sale. Jim and Janie Allen have generously donated space at Security Warehouse in Arkadelphia for us to store the items. When we have enough goods collected we will announce a date for the yard sale. (Note: We have lots of clothes but we still need other items.)
